Description & Details:Bilkent University invites applications for multiple open-rank faculty positions in the Department of Neuroscience. The department plans to expand research activities in certain focus areas and accordingly seeks applications from promising or established scholars who have worked in the following or related fields: Computational/theoretical neuroscience with a strong emphasis on research involving emerging approaches including artificial intelligence, big-data analytics, neuronal modeling, brain-machineinterfaces, and robotics. Developmental neuroscience with a strong emphasis on research focusing on cognitive studies involving pre-clinical models or humans. Systems/cognitive neuroscience with a strong emphasis on auditory, language, somatosensory, motor domains, or multi-domain investigations.Candidates with a research focus in those areas whose research has a neuroimaging component are particularly encouraged to apply. The Department’s interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience that offers Master's and PhD degrees was established in 2014. The department is affiliated with Bilkent’s Aysel Sabuncu Brain Research Center (ASBAM) and the National Magnetic Resonance Research Center (UMRAM). Faculty affiliated with the department have the privilege to access state-of-the-art research facilities in these centers, including animal facilities, cellular/molecular laboratory infrastructure, psychophysics laboratories, eye-tracking laboratories, EEG laboratories, a human-robot interaction laboratory, and two MRI scanners (3T and 1.5T). Bilkent is located in Ankara, Turkey's metropolitan capital, with daily direct flights to Istanbul and other major European cities. Qualifications and Responsibilities: Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience or a related discipline and should have an excellent publication record (requirements vary with rank). A demonstrated ability or the potential to secure external research funding will be a strong advantage. Faculty members are expected to maintain productive research programs. Successful applicants will supervise PhD and Master's students and teach during the Fall and Spring semesters with no teaching requirement during summer.Appointment. The full-time appointments can begin as soon as a successful applicant is identified, although the starting date is negotiable. Salary will be internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
