- D’Juan Farmer, University of California, Los Angeles and Sonya Neal, University of California, San Diego named inaugural HHMI Freeman Hrabowski Scholars.
- Guo Huang, UCSF, awarded 2023 ISHR Mid-Career Investigator Research Award.
- Anming Meng, Tsinghua University, awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chinese Zebrafish Society.
- Cecilia Moens, Fred Hutch Cancer Center, receives a Javits Neuroscience Investigator Award from NINDS.
- Ann Morris, University of Kentucky, honored as 2023-24 University Research Professor.
- Erin Schuman, Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, Frankfurt, awarded the 2023 Brain Prize from the Lundbeck Foundation for her work on molecular mechanisms of brain development and plasticity.
- Lynne Sneddon, University of Gothenburg, awarded the 2023 Charles River Excellence in Refinement Award for promotion of fish welfare in research.
- Kandice Tanner, NCI, NIH, awarded the Max Planck-Humboldt Medal for her work on cell migration in cancer.
- Kandice Tanner, NCI, NIH, awarded the E.E. Just Award and will present the award lecture at the American Society for Cell Biology meeting in 2023.

- Michelle Kossack (mentor Jessica Plavicki, Brown University) awarded NE Society of Toxicology Paper of the Year award.
- Emily McMahon (mentor Paul Kasher, University of Manchester) awarded the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism Neils Lassen Award.
- Brittany Truong (mentor Kristin Artinger, University of Colorado Anschutz) named a 2023 Mass Media Fellow. She will be reporting for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for her fellowship.
- Benjamin Chang (mentor Philip Bevilacqua) and Renata Proano (mentor Salvatore Stella) at Penn State University were awarded Undergraduate Research Awards: Excellence in Information Literacy for their outstanding student research utilizing zebrafish.
- Undergraduate Gabby Conover (mentor Jen Uno, Elon University) named a 2023 Lumen Scholar for her work on the Gut-Brain-Axis in zebrafish.
- Undergraduate Bridget Damon (mentor Donald Stearns, Wagner College) won an award for Best Poster Presentation at the 77th annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference for her work on the behavioral response of Daphnia to Zebrafish.
